Hedgewitch

You can still be a Wiccan without a coven or an altar. An altar is really only a place you have kept aside for focussing your energy for prayers and other things if you so wish. It can be a small table in the lounge, the kitchen, the garden, wherever you feel is right for you. Not all Wiccans are part of a coven, they are more usually known as a Hedgewitch and there is nothing wrong with this. Read 'Hedge Witch' by Rae Beth and 'Wicca for the Solitary Practitioner' by Scott Cunningham. Both are really good books for anyone interested in Wicca. Its great that you are trying to live by the Wiccan Rede, just have faith that you will figure out which direction you need to take and you will do it. I am still learning new things about it and I've been a hedgewitch for years now. Ive also had my conflicts of faith with it too.

Gods and Goddesses

Miss Melanie, can you help me out here. Do wiccans believe in an actual God and Goddess as two seperate enteties, or just as two different aspects of God/the Divine/the Universe ?? Just a bit confused !!

I believe...

I believe in both. You need a male and female to continue creating new life, sexual energy, whether it be human, plant or animal. It is the other patriarchal faiths that say there is no Goddess as men were often stronger and educated in the past. Women are not as important in those faiths, are not equal with the god.

The God is the male partner to the Triple Goddess. He is dynamic, the life force, male aspect of all nature. The Horned God is part beast and part man. He is sexual, earthy, passionate and wise. He is not cruel and evil.

The Goddess is a Triple Goddess, indicating the ages of woman; the Maiden, the Mother and the Crone. She is also associated throughout the wheel of the year. The maiden is a young woman, just growing and developing into a woman; The Mother is a woman who is of child rearing age, a nurturing and loving person. The Crone is a woman in the later stages of life. All these stages have things to teach us. (the triple aspect is also seen Christianity as the Son, the God and the Holy Ghost. all male aspects to be revered).

Together, the Goddess and the God make a great team.

I'd also add that plenty of

I'd also add that plenty of people live along the lines of the wiccan creed/rede and don 't call themselves wiccan - some use pagan, some use witch and some don't have a name for it.

Good advice/comments from miss melanie!

Pagan

Yes, starless, I call myself a pagan, rather than wiccan or witch. I seem to like druidry as well as wicca so it covers all of it. Im also a Godmother to a lovely little boy, which was fun saying my vows for him in a church, but i figured that the church wanted me to be a good person for him, and love him, regardless of my beliefs. Hes so cute and cheeky.
