Iceland
Wanted to share this because I am so excited. I'm off to Iceland in February. Can't wait so hoping to see the northern lights and definately going to visit the blue lagoon. Very excited and totally different to other holidays I have been on. Something nice to start the year on I feel.

Oh Aphrodite, you lucky thing!!!!! Iceland is on my wish list too, it is most definitely my kind of place!!!!! I just think the terrain and the scenery looks absolutely awe inspiring. You never know you might meet an Icelandic guy, just think of all the hours of fun you could have together in those long, dark winter days!!!! nudge nudge wink wink!!!!!lol

I'm so jealous!! My friend has been twice to Iceland - he's really into caving and ice climbing and had a fabulous time.
Have a great time. Looking forward to hearing all about it if you want to share with us.

Hey
I went in August last year - so no Northern Lights for me, alas, but maybe next time! I had an amazing time - it is completely different from anywhere I have visited before.
I'm pleased you're off to the Blue Lagoon, it is divine and amazing. Definitiely set a day aside to go as it's really fabulous and you'll not want to leave. We went on the last day and we were flying in the evening but due to delays I was not so chilled when we got back(!) so do leave yourself lots of time. We got some of the products, which are expensive but lovely - we have just run out so I'm very jealous!
We hired a car and it was really worth doing as you have the freedom to do what you want. You can also do some of the tourist trails yourself, which can save you money - we did part of the Golden Circle ourselves and saw the geysers Geysir and Strokker and the stunning Gullfoss waterfall which are basically compulsory if you go to Iceland!
If you like woolen things something we discovered was the Alafoss outlet shop which is on one of the main routes out Reykjavik. It sells lots of really lovely stuff but a bit cheaper than elsewhere. I'm into felting and I got some of the wool fibres from there too.
I'm sure you'll have a fantastic time

Am so excited for you !! The nearest i have got to Iceland, is when our plane stopped there on route back from Canada when I was 18 !!!!!. We were allowed off the plane but could only stay in rekyavik airport !!!!lol!!!! We did fly over some amazing landscape though. Have a fantastic time :-D

I hope you had a funky time ^^
Delighted to hear you had such a great time in Iceland and I'm sure we would all love to see some photos.
I got an aurora alert email for tonight and tomorrow for Ireland and northern parts of the UK so you never know you might get to see a spectacular display at home! Well, that's if it ever stops raining.
I hope something will happen to change things at work for you, it's disappointing when you have a great holiday and as soon as you get back everythings back to normal.

What a lovely surprise Aphrodite to come back to. Well done your dad. Glad you had a real lovely time in Iceland and looking forward to the pictures.
I hope the work situation clears up real soon for you love.
what a lovely surprise for you that your dad sorted out your garden. Good to hear you had a great time in Iceland and saw the lights.
I remember the feeling of coming back to work and after 1/2 an hour it felt like you'd never been away. I hope things get better for you soon. Do you have a union that you could go to for advice?
