So excited

Thank you. I'm so excited. Plan to visit volcanos and go snow mobiling too. Bascially there are somethings we know we want to do and others we are going to see when we are there. The northern lights is something I have wanted to see for years. I'm thinking when I see them (did write if I see them but thinking positively, lol) is there anything I can do, a cosmic request, quote, simple spell (baring in mind I'm going to be in company and not have provisions with me. Basically I'm looking for a relationship to find the man for me. I feel that these lights have special energy and I'm just wondering I can do something?

Wow, lucky you

I'm so jealous!! My friend has been twice to Iceland - he's really into caving and ice climbing and had a fabulous time.

Have a great time. Looking forward to hearing all about it if you want to share with us.

You'll love it!

Hey

I went in August last year - so no Northern Lights for me, alas, but maybe next time!  I had an amazing time - it is completely different from anywhere I have visited before.

I'm pleased you're off to the Blue Lagoon, it is divine and amazing.  Definitiely set a day aside to go as it's really fabulous and you'll not want to leave.  We went on the last day and we were flying in the evening but due to delays I was not so chilled when we got back(!) so do leave yourself lots of time.  We got some of the products, which are expensive but lovely - we have just run out so I'm very jealous!

We hired a car and it was really worth doing as you have the freedom to do what you want.   You can also do some of the tourist trails yourself, which can save you money - we did part of the Golden Circle ourselves and saw the geysers Geysir and Strokker and the stunning Gullfoss waterfall which are basically compulsory if you go to Iceland!

If you like woolen things something we discovered was the Alafoss outlet shop which is on one of the main routes out Reykjavik.  It sells lots of really lovely stuff but a bit cheaper than elsewhere. I'm into felting and I got some of the wool fibres from there too.

I'm sure you'll have a fantastic time

One more sleep

One more sleep then off to Iceland. We have all our tours booked, snowmobiling, northern lights, blue lagoon, geysir. Can't wait so excited move and even more excited to have a break from work.

A friend of mine is having her kitchen done so she is staying at my house when I'm away so I know that the house will be safe too.

Need to pack after work and then early start tomorrow. Iceland here I come.

I'm back

Well I'm back from Iceland and had a great time. Snorkling, snowmobiling, geysir, gulfos and I did see the northern lights. The northern light were not as impressive as I thought they were going to be but I seen them. Absolutly shattered now we didn't stop. It was snowing when we arrived so it was great to see Iceland in proper snow. I have some pictures and will try and put some on here once I get them sorted.

Back at work today to the normal bullying shame it already feels like I have never been away.

Hi Aphodite

Delighted to hear you had such a great time in Iceland and I'm sure we would all love to see some photos.

I got an aurora alert email for tonight and tomorrow for Ireland and northern parts of the UK so you never know you might get to see a spectacular display at home!  Well, that's if it ever stops raining.

I hope something will happen to change things at work for you, it's disappointing when you have a great holiday and as soon as you get back everythings back to normal.

Forgot

I forgot to mention when I came back from holiday I had a lovely surprise. My garden has like a mud pit. The garden had a big slop so we put soil in the back to level it off a bit but there was no turf and I was waiting to get some slabs put in so that when the soil was leveled off it wouldn't just fall into next doors garden. I kept on bring it up with me Dad for help and before I went on holiday I asked him if when I get back we could get it sorted.

Anway I arrived home and at the back door were some gardening shears, I knew I had never left them there so heart was in my mouth for a second. I then looked through the blinds on the back door and to my surprise my garden was all sorted and it looks great. Soil all leveled and groud turfed (I now have grass). I had no idea he was going to do that and I am so greatful. Bring on the summer may have a BBQ.

Thank you Dad xx

Good old Dad

what a lovely surprise for you that your dad sorted out your garden. Good to hear you had a great time in Iceland and saw the lights.

I remember the feeling of coming back to work and after 1/2 an hour it felt like you'd never been away. I hope things get better for you soon. Do you have a union that you could go to for advice?

Photos

Hi All

I have tried now for an hour to try and put some photos on here but I can't. I'm not sure why as I have been able to put pictures on the site before. I will give it a go when I have a bit more time. I now want to have some dinner and have a bath.
