Some of you may know I was looking into becoming a priest as I seemed that was the way I was being pushed, I have had a few meetings now and all fine but the biggest thing that is stopping the process is that I am a medium, it has been made clear that the church frowns on this but will admit that it is real and psychics are useful in certain situations. I understand that a gifted person without guidence can like a chocolate fireguard, but why the strict views ? an old army buddy called me out of the blue the other day and told me his church makes it clear if you have anything to do with this way of life you are working with the devil, I find this really offensive but also find it daft in its medievil ways. I am a Christian and a medium, if we are all born in the image of god then why did he give us the ability to use the sixth sense in the first place ? Jesus was healer and received messages and lived his life helping people, so why cant others. If a child see spirit because they are still open to that vibration are they evil, of course not, how can innocence be evil ?

We have moved to a new area and I have decided to stop doing readings as its a small town and I dont want my children to get grief at school and I am sick of some of the looks I get as well, maybe one day we will just accept the gifted as normal and even promote it. One thing I know for a fact all of my spiritual friends are the kindest dependable people I know, if we had a world full of calm caring people what a different place it would be !

Ho hum rant over

Hi Gunner

I think its impossible for most conventional religions to openly move forward because most of their followers would be horrified and kick up a huge fuss...remember Life of Brian?!

I know that there are people in our small town who will not walk past our crystal shop.  They have to cross over and walk on the otherside of the road and firmly believe that people who shop there are communing with the devil.  Sigh.

I'm sorry to hear you have stopped doing readings, but wise too, hopefully you will be able to back to it when your kids are older.

Won't the spirits keep giving you messages though?

Best wishes and love, Seabee xxx

I agree...

...gunner that it doesn't make sense, and it is an area that has had me tied in knots for a long while and still does if I'm honest.  So are you still going ahead with becoming a priest? What process do you have to go through? I am assuming this is Protestant rather than Catholic as Catholic priests can't be married can they - please correct me if I am wrong ! I wish you the very best with your path, and you should follow whatever feels right for you and your family x x

Blessings

I agree with you.

Its daft that there is still this barrier and people are still stuck in this viewpoint. I fear that it may never be accepted because it cant be refuted with science or that not everyone has the gift so people think its a load of hocum. Ive had kids throwing eggs at my house because I am a pagan and obviously devil worship by default and in their heads that means I killed an adorable little kitten from around the corner that disappeared and my own cat in the name of the devil. (That hurt me more than anything, because I would never harm an animal and there is no talking to people like this, whether child or adult).

You could use your argument against whoever is saying this by saying what you said in the first box about Jesus being a healer and receiving messages so how can it be the devil's work because they are saying that Jesus himself subscribed to that! Would looking into becoming a minister for the Spiritualist Church be a compromise?

Good luck with whatever direction you decide to take.

Hi gunner x

i too am a catholic, however not a practasing one, i agree that the church seem's to condemn spirituality, however when people pray or attend the church, or even if you visited a nunnery this is all forms of meditation, seeking enlightenment, praying to a source, connecting with God. Well is that not the same that some of us on here wish to achieve in a spiritual way? That is why i dont really attend church because it is all confusing. Like a priest can come and exorsise a house, move the spirit to the light, yet it appear's it is frowned on what you can do and communicate with spirit?. Another thing i would like to share with you. My neighbour was a catholic and attended the same church i used too. He was diagnosed with cancer, i told him i could give him healing if he wished and we talked about crystals and angel readings and he was very interested and quite open at alternative things, however when he next visited the church and spoke to the priest about the things we was chatting about, it was all frowned upon. My neighbour told me that he could not accept reiki healing as the church does not believe in it and angel readings where really frowned upon. I replied to my neighbour "im sure God, and the angels and raphael would not want to see you suffer and be in pain" and that i work for the highest of good and only mean well. My neighbour was happy to recieve a massage from me before he passed, but it really upset me that the church and catholosism will not accept this and brainwash people with thier religious beliefs. I agree gunner, i think a spiritual mentor in the spiritualist church would be more suited for you, i hope this helps. And please dont give up on your lovely gift. Even if other's dont believe or try to condemn it. Love Gemini :') xxx

Hello gunner what I do know

Hello gunner what I do know at the moment is that the other side is putting every problem it can think of to take us away from our true origin to be healers, mediums at school my daughter did have issues with some children not all, about me and my gift for passed 13 years I have battled with who I truly am I have had people talk about me one minute then come begging for my help.

What I am trying to say is be who you are not what others want you to be this is what 2012 is all about the awakening of everyones gift the love your children have for you is far  greater than damage bullies can do.

People who laugh at us or call us and try and discredit us are the ones who need our help they are scared plus they think we read them and know things about them we know there deepest darkest secrets so they believe. When people say to me im weird or a nut job I say yes I have a certificate to proove it do you. I love it now when people ask me what I do for a living and I tell them proudly I am a Psychic Healer I even go to business networking days and promote my business just like everyone promotes theirs and I am made most welcome so it is aminority of people and comments that prevent us being who we truly are Gunner go with what your heart tells you and if it is meant to be then it will be spirit will see to that. love & light Tracy xx

Dilemma

Hello Gunner

What a dilemma you've been going through.  You're not alone and I've met others in the same situation although not considering entering the church.

Here's my take on it - which you don't have to agree with at all :)

I was christened into the Church of England but my family were never religious - christening was just something you did.  When I was about 8 or 9 I decided to attend Sunday School.  My family thought I was a bit weird but I could have been doing worse things.

I developed a strong affinity with Jesus Christ and wanted so much to become more religious as I saw it then.  People who wholeheartedly follow the dogma of any religion seemed to have a satisfaction that I just couldn't get and I was a little envious of that.  I just kept asking questions - similar to the ones that have been raised here and I saw many so called religious people behaving abominably thinking that their religion atoned for their behaviour and they were right however horrible they were.  Same old story really.

However, my connection with Jesus or, as I now call it, the Christ energy has never waned and I work with it a lot.  This is Jesus who tells us that unconditional love is all, that healed and that shared his knowledge and experience.

The Christian Church is its own religion that uses Jesus as  its mascot - depending on the denomination.  The Church is about controlling people and you do that through withholding knowledge and outlawing the very nature that could destroy it if we all knew about what's really going on spiritually and our own inate power.

I see the Church as a business that has been brilliant at marketing and retaining their customers.  Spirituality is so much bigger than the Church (you see my upbringing I still say Church with a capital C!)

On the other hand Christ practised spirituality and Christianity is spiritual - following his teachings.  So I can easily reconcile the two.  It's the organisation of the Church which causes so many problems such as those you've been experiencing.

As I said this is only my take on it and it probably doesn't help that much if you are considering joining the Church but I would urge you not to give up or compromise your spirituality.

Jackie

Not fair :-(

Gunner I find this attitude just unbelievable. I feel that people are just affraid of the unknown and perhaps if they understood there would be more acceptance. We give people greif because they are gifted or different. The church would be lucky to have someone with such passion for people.

It has made me sad that your children could get greif just because you are a medium. I wonder though how many of those people would be lining up for a reading!! People may judge it but most are interested and would have a sitting which is just two faced.

I would though as I don't know how being a medium works, could you not loss your connection with spirits if you let it go? And would it not drive you mad hearing all these things and not letting them out some how?

To be a priest I feel takes a special person as a lot of hard work and devotion is required. I don't see the church changing their mind on this matter but maybe you could look in another type of church such as a spritual church? (just a thought as I know its not really what you were aiming for).

Gunner just want to wish you luck and hope you find what path it is that you are being taken on at the moment. I do believe that if it meant to be it will happen but maybe not in the way we hope or expect. I try to believe that myself although difficult when what you want just isn't happening for you and you don't see the future or path.

Best of luck Gunner

Well Gunner I'm sure you will

Well Gunner I'm sure you will work out what's right for you & spirit will be there chucking in their tuppence worth!!!!!

It is like a debate I had with someone who is very active in their church & she got quite uptight & agitated at my suggestion that being 'religious' doesn't necessarily mean you are 'spiritual'.

Accepting others for who/what they are is a basic principle of spirituality and yet most religions are intolerant of so many people due to who/what they are. I guess it is a bit of hypocrisy.

Someone told me about a tee shirt they had seen that said ' you can do whatever you want to do .......... as long as I agree with it '.

I guess Gunner, you could become a priest and still be working with your mediumship but passing on the messages in a different way but if you were a priest and someone asked you about mediumship, would you be able to deny who you are and also tell them they couldn't follow that path as in the eyes of the church it is wrong?

Sorry playing devil's advocate here. Go with your heart Gunner. Whatever choice you make will be right cos if it didn't feel right at the time you wouldn't make it. You can always change your mind later on.

If spirit have put this in your path then there will be a reason. You just have to work out what it is ......... simple right? ha ha
