Who were you in a past life?
Ive been on a chatroom and the conversation went to who we were as a past life.
Ive always said I was a celt in Roman Britain, a medieval monk and also have a connection to William Wallace although I know I was not him. I have links to Britain and also Canada so they make sense to me.
It strikes me, that there are a lot of people who claim they were Cleopatra, MarK Anthony, Sitting Bull, the Dalai Lama, etc and very rarely do people say they were ordinary people in a past life because it just isnt exciting or because we all want our 15 minutes of fame, even if it was over 100 years ago.
How can so many people claim they were all Cleopatra or any of the other numerous famous people from the past? I also dont understand how people claiming to have a past life, always claim to be from some far off land instead of someone from their native country.

as far as I know, I've always been what I am now.
very average and normal but with a Witchy tendency.
I've had a mud hut that I shared with goats and chickens. a dirt floor, very smokey, damp and smelly.
I've probably spent at least one life as a friend put it "on my back in storyville"
another I was short, plump, black, with a child on my hip, more around my feet, spending most of my time in a kitchen. that woman comes to the forefront when I'm having a good cooking session.
I'd love a regression, to pull together the stories surrounding the snippets of memories I have.
I have been told that I was a Jewish peasant persecuited in a Russian revolution and that I was also persecuited as early as the second world war which accounts for me not being great with conflict. It must also account for my lack of intolerance of peeople being persecuited for religious reasons. I appear to have also had a life as a mariner being kidnapped by pirates. This accounts for my love of the sea.
I have no I idea but am fascinated by this subject and would love to have a regression.
There are meditations you can do to help uncover past lives, does anyone know of a good one to recommend?

I have always had the feeling I was jewish in the second world war! When I was a kid I was petrified of showers and really loud noises! I have since dreamt of being in a prison camp in the snow and there was guard dogs barking at me! My husband was my husband in that life but was separated from me and put in a separate area of camp for the men! I dont know if this is true as I have not got a name come through yet! I have always been curious of the jewish faith.
When I was a child I lived in Germany and visited a camp and I was really scared. I always felt like I belonged in Germany! My first child was also born there and I am sure I will return again!

The thing that strikes me is, that youve been told by someone else what your past lives are. How does this person know who you were in a past life?
Maybe i should ask someone who I was in a past life and see if they come up with what I know?

What a lovely thread you have started Cornovii Queen,thanks for this. I have always been interested in past and not sure where to begin. Saying this I have had flash backs in my meditations and healing sessions. I have never had regression and often wonder if I went to a therapist how would I verify their information, surely if it is my past life I will have clues in my present life and who better to know thyself but my myself.
Would it be right to assume that things you are attracted to in this life or maybe even things we have a strong dislike to gives one a hint at past lives? Would you mind sharing how you worked out details to your past life this is such an exciting subject area and would like to know more. Any tips most welcome.

Hi Ju,
Ive always had a fascination with the Iron Age of Britain and the Celts. They were special people, pioneers and believers of the old ways. Ways that make more sense to me than Christianity. Maybe I was a Druid in that life.
I dont know where the medieval monk comes from, but I have always liked the peace and tranquility, the remembrance candles in the red cups, in a catholic church and also the sounds of medieval monks and the chants and hymns. I feel like I know the chants and hymns being sung in the old manner. I have never even been in a catholic church in my life, was not brought up in a religious manner and even now dont like the rest of Catholicism, so I have no idea where this can come from in my upbringing.
As for the William Wallace connection, I don't know. The first time I watched Braveheart, I sobbed uncontrollably for hours after it finished. I feel like I knew him well and was incredibly upset by the manner of his death and actual death. Its like a betrayal to me. I still sob for hours, if I watch it, even if I miss the ending. Ive questioned this before in a previous thread about how a film can have that affect on you but this feels like I was heartbroken that he was so brutally murdered for what was not treason in my eyes.

Never been sure about past lives because most people can't remember them, so you can't right any wrongs you committed. Of course that doesn't mean it never happens I've never seen the point of it though. Personally I'd much rather think I was going to a better place and stay there.

I recently visited a medium who told me that I was Nun in a past life, I lived somewhere in South America and apparently I was very pioneering in taking children who were abused, orphaned and homeless to safety and caring for them. She also told me that my daughter had been a very well known dancer of either Polish or Russian nationality, which is interesting as my daughter loves to dancing now.
I also had another regression where I discovered that my name was Geraldine and I lived in Wales, the era was late 1920s or 1930s. It wasn't a very nice regression actually, it appeared as though my husband tricked me into meeting him and subjected me to a vicious attack and then walked away with our baby. That was nice of him!!!

I have done a regression and felt I was in a nunnery but seemed to be living quite comfortably with a few pieces of furniture in the room so it was suggested I was reasonably well to do and that many ladies who could afford to make a contribution retired to live with the nuns espceially after their husband died.
I have always been facinated by Eygpt (was actually conceived there) and Greece. I lived in Greece for a couple of years and always felt at home and was sometimes asked where I came from in Greece, odd because my Greek was not good.
On another visit to Greece, several sites in the Peloponnese brought up feelings in different ways, the oddest was a walking down a ramp at Mycenae when suddenly I felt I was a soldier in a kind of armour.
I am fastinated by this subject too. I have heard you bring things into this life from a past life. Like, I am scared of being buried alive and the dark at times. So they say maybe in my past life I was buried alive or shut up somewhere in the dark. What a thought.

I av noooo idea or feelings of a past life in human form anyway. Lol All I can say is that ppl have told me that I have very cat like eyes and I do for some reason have always felt very drawn to a beautiful black panther. I genarally am really very interested in how i would go about finding out. I have had regression and was on trial for witch craft aged 14. i was due to be hanged but the events turned. It was quite traumatic so don't really want to post the whole thing. I also know I was buried alive by some men in another life - also traumatic.
I have had glimpses (not through regression) of other lives and have been given snippets of info that when i researched have proven to be accurate thus giving me some evidence of the lives.
I think that although it is interesting to know what lives we have previously led, it is important to remember that it's all about learning and growing and that we choose our lives as they will help us experience certain things, learn certain things and therefore as spiritual beings we will grow. So you have to take any past life you become aware of into perspective and see that glimpse as a chnace to perhaps heal anything that you may be holding on to from that life.
I had a strange experience recently during a healing where I was taken to the amazonian rainforest and it turned out I had a one time been an amazonian indian and I was killed with a dart from a blow pipe. the reason I was being shown this was because I was still carrying some of the poison from that dart in this life and I was being shown how to cleanse myself of the poison - also the indian who shot me would have been balancing his karma by coming and showing me how to heal myself.
I have to add that the Amazon trip above happened in a 20 min session in the middle of a busy body & soul fair - talk about mind blowing!!
Fab though - a trip to the amazon without the need for passport or immunisations lol!!

Dr Brian Weiss has written some really good books on past life regression. He is an American psychiatrist who used hypnosis to treat a patient who was resistant to other treatments and when hypnotised, she started talking about past lives where she had died in a traumatic way and this had caused fears in her life today.
I would def reommend them if you're interested in this topic. It's also interesting as he is a doctor and scientist but yet had his life and practice transformed by past life regression and the stuff it brought out.

I do past life regression as I am a hypnotherapist, It the only thing I like doing now, I have been regressed quite a few times, so far I have been living in a cave wearing fur, a monk at Glastonbury Abbey, A murderer, I then found out my circle leader could describe me in that life as I killed her ! hence me making it up to her in this life.

That's funny Gunner cos past life regression is the only thing I enjoy doing with my hypnotherapy. I guess it's maybe because it fits more with the spiritual side of things.
angels exist I think it has helped heal some stuff I was carrying from past lives & obviously I was given the info on how to cleanse my self of the toxins from the arrow - however that was kinda dietary and I've not been very good at following that!!
I think though that a lot of the effects from regression can go on at a sub conscious level because you can't really rationalise it. The healing is at a soul level.
The shift between lives can become really easy - I've had glimpses whilst I've been lying in bed - almost like watching a screen with a brief film being played but I knew it was me and it was very matter of fact - oh yeah that's me in a past life - then it's gone and you move on to making breakfast etc!!
I'd love to do this too. My feeling is that I've tended to be in the UK or Europe, and that I may have been strangled, hanged or had something unpleasant happen to my neck as I can't bear to have anything touch it! It'd be really interesting to see what would come up, and if it would explain this.

kirsty you may well have been hanged/strangled or something like that. Lots of us would have been around during the witch hunts and the common way to execute a 'witch' was by hanging.

I'm fascinated by past life regression, but wary of having it done as I read a lot of history books and don't feel I would be able to trust what came out as being the absolute truth adn not influenced by what I had read.
Like CQ, I too am fascinated by the Celts, mostly around the Boudicca era, as well as Vikings, and WW1. I also love the English Civil War, but that's due to the fact that I went to school in the shadow of Edgehill for a while, and had a fantastic History teacher at school.
I do become very uncomfortable and downright fearful sometimes when I'm around deep still water such as rivers; weirs also make me feel scared. Am ok with the sea though.
Would be intersting to know why I suppose.

Ive just been looking at the Daily Mail online and there is an article about someone selling photos of people supposedly from the 1860's and 1870's who are spitting images of John Travolta and Nicholas Cage. He is claiming the original people in the old photos are unrelated to the present day stars and that the present days stars are reincarnations of the people in the old photos.
Im not sure about this and think photoshop can have been utilised although possibly old printing techniques have been used to make them seem more genuine. It seems like someone trying to make a fast buck to me.

I just showed those pictures to my husband and he wanted to know, if John Travolta had been an African Pygmy in 1860, would he still have looked exactly like John Travolta?!
I don't have any clue about my past lives, except I have such a fear of torture, can't stand to see it in films or even think about it without feeling incredibly fearful. But then it is so awful maybe my fears are not that unusual.

We need to question why so many people all have past lives of the same person.I tend not believe someone when they claim they were Cleopatra (im just using Cleo as an example) because I just think, you and a million others all think the same and are trying to convince yourself, rather then me.
Personally, I wouldnt like the responsibility of knowing I was a famous important (political) person in a past life, then claiming it publicly, knowing that it is potentially not true.
We all know in our hearts whether we were Cleopatra, Lancelot, a King or Queen and in lying to ourselves about it and to others, we're missing the point of who we were in the real past life and not learning from it.

it didnt work and I didnt like it as the man was prompting me telling me what I was like and what I wearing etc. He started off saying imagine I was in the tunnell of my life and it was going back and back and bact til I was in my mothers womb etc, then back to before that, and I come out of this place, what am I wearing and what do I see, I didnt feel or see anything, I knew i was still on the table , tried again and again and eventually he said I was a young girl, barefoot etc, who am I.. IM ME AND IM STILL ON THE TABLE. I wasnt blocking myself I wanted it to work, it didnt, but wasnt sure he should be prompting me, I thought I was to tell him who I was not him tell me!

I've got some interesting memories, but they're all snippets.
one of them, it could have been anywhere, and over quite a long period of time that it could have been, but I lived in a very basic house with a damp Earth floor, a very smoky little fire, and I had goats. the goats came in overnight. I can SMELL that house, just like that.
a life like that could have been anywhere, and pretty much any period in time.
another memory comes to the surface when I'm cooking sometimes. I'm black, barefoot. holding a child on my hip and mixing food in a massive pan on a fire.
and then there's the very strong sense I've had a good number of lives in New Orleans and the surrounding area, and most of them featured the same two people, who I had a very strong link with from the start. one of them remembers one of these lives in which she remembers me as a fairly light skinned (poss Quadroon?) woman, and I'd managed to get myself a wealthy man. which wasn't uncommon then. she remembers him as my husband, but it was quite usual for Creole men to take a mixed race woman as a mistress, and they were often treated as wives, and well supported.
she remembers I had a very expensive yellow head covering, and feeling quite jealous about that.
we joke that we're either here this time round in order to give someone else a go, or to give the city a chance to recover. hehe.
eta. I've already answered before. oh well, at least this time I have a little more info on at least one of the lives.
there could be a couple of reasons why it didnt work. First, the location. The MBS fairs can be noisy and active, possibly preventing you from relaxing enough for hypnotism working properly. I know I wouldnt go for that. Second, that you are not a very easily suggestive person who can be hypnotised easily. Some people just cant be put under all that easily.
The guy who did the hypnotism didnt sound very professional at all. He sounds like he just wanted another 'successful' candidate to add to his list, even if it wasnt all that successful. He shouldnt have been suggesting anything, especially after you were saying you were you and lying on the sofa in front of him and he should have given you your money back. Maybe he suggested that stuff so you wouldnt ask for your miney back, which makes him a charlatan.

I seen him at other fayres after that and some ladys had no tops on at times, wheter they had some treatment from the woman with him or not, he would be rubbing their backs and stuff and it just didnt sit well with me. I know it wasnt ideal surroundings but he put me off getting it done again! X he dropped his price from 40 to 25 cos it hadnt worked but like you I think he shouldnt have charged at all x x
I don't think any sort of hypnotherapy should be done at MBS fairs. I don't understand why people have the practical stuff done at these places. How can you relax while other people are walking past looking at you.
Also, with hypnotherapy & regression it's quite possible that you could have had a bad emotional reaction and being in front of so many people in such a vulnerable state doesn't seem right to me.
it is possible you sensed this and were protecting yourself. I think I would have done exactly teh same thing. My friend is a hypnotherapist and she certainly wouldn't have done this unless it was for demonstration purposes and the client and audience all agreed this.
I've only had a regression reading - so I wasn't hypnotised and the reading really pinpointed my character and ways in the life of this other person which was quite uncanny.
I wasn't anybody famous but, from my holiday experiences, there are an awful lot of Merlin reincarnations in Cornwall and they all want to hug you in pubs for some reason :)
Its not the place to do things like that and maybe subconciously I was protecting myself but I didnt feel I was cos I wanted it work, but just too many distractions and way too public. What I probably would like is if I did have it done again, for it to be with someone I know and trust in the room so they could tell me what was said and what exactly happened as he just put so much doubt in my head with his prompting! I am sure its not done that way but just to pacify myself now I would just like the validation! xxx
Id love to have a regression but Id want to tape it so I could play it back and have access to be able to research what I say. The only way to really know for sure is to research what you say I think. If the names and times, location etc of your past life are in the records, you'll find them and can then back up the recording of the regression with hard facts.

Those past lives are really varied! The first one you relate sounds quite distressing and maybe you could find out more. The socond one I can relate to, as I also hate things around my neck, I cant wear a polo neck jumper for instance and its worse if my hair goes around my neck, which is very long. That really annoys me and I feels horrible. I cant sleep with my hair over my neck, it has to be behind me. Life must have come from somewhere, so why not somewhere other than earth?
I think I would explore that one too. I would definately like to research any concrete facts from a post life to see if they can be verified.

Hi Cornovii Queen, I put it down to my being a Gemini, lol. There's definately more than 2 personality traits in my psyche, if you looked in my wardrobes you'd think they belonged to 4 different people! So maybe my past lives reflect it.or visa versa?
With the first past life I mentioned, my family ancestry goes back to the French Revolution, (We were 'Gentry')! And I've been wondering if that has anything to do with it?
Like you, I have very long hair and it often wakes me by wrapping around my neck, I'll pull it behind me, then lie on it and can't move, which wakes me up again!
Hmm...Maybe Prof Brian Cox could help me in reserching my Martian roots???? ;o) Actually, I don't know where to begin reserching the last 2 lives, My circumstances have changed and I can no longer afford to visit psychics or hypnotists to get more information and I don't think there's very much on google. I believe that in a way we are affected by what happened to us in a past life. They say if we are bothered with say stomach problems it is possible we were stabbed in the past. It seems I was a wealthy Roman, had a name similar to my present name, the family had a business which is the Roman equivalent of what my uncle did, and the injuries that caused my demise account for why all of the operations and injuries I have had in this life are on the same side. And I got all of that from a past life reading over the phone, by someone who didn't know my real name,. or what I look like and described my colouring then and it is the same as now. Except I was a male. And I lived in the UK for at least part of that life.
